Discover the Beauty of Aït Bougmez Valley: 6-Day M’Goun Gorges Trekking Tour in Morocco
Embark on an unforgettable trekking adventure through one of Morocco’s most stunning landscapes. Nestled in the heart of the Central High Atlas, beneath the northern slopes of M’Goun, Morocco’s second-highest peak, lies the breathtaking Aït Bougmez Valley. Known as the “Happy Valley,” this region is a natural paradise, rich in history and culture, and offers some of the best hiking trails in Morocco.
As you hike through this magnificent valley, you will be surrounded by terraced fields, towering walnut groves, and traditional Berber villages made of earth and stone. The fertile land, fed by mountain streams and sheltered by the M’Goun range, has supported the Berber communities for centuries.
Your journey will take you past around thirty charming villages, each nestled between 1,800 and 2,100 meters, with incredible views of the mountains and valleys below. Hike through groves of walnut trees, explore ancient stone walls, and take in the rich vegetation that paints the landscape with every shade of green. From the top of a hill or the crest of a djebel, enjoy panoramic views of the valley, where the rugged beauty of the terrain meets the harmony of local life.
As you trek along, you’ll discover more than just nature – you’ll witness the preserved footprints of dinosaurs embedded in the clay, a reminder of the timeless beauty of this region.
Our journey begins from a comfortable guesthouse, built and decorated in traditional Berber style, where you’ll immerse yourself in local culture before setting out on your mule trek. This peaceful, gradual trek will allow you to connect with the vibrant Berber heritage that has flourished in the shadow of the High Atlas peaks for centuries.
